Double the Dirt
Thanks to the contributions of several donors MTS is able to match any donations made up to $50,000 during this build season.
Through the end of August, each dollar donated to MTS will go twice as far for building and maintaining trails, supporting both current and future projects in the Midcoast. We have big goals for this build season and beyond, and we need your support!

Why MTS Matters
Midcoast Trails Stewardship supports a growing network of local trails—and with your help we can expand our impact in 2026 and beyond.

Midcoast Trails Stewardship has been established to help support our local partners in providing a resource for fundraising, trail construction, trail maintenance, and trail stewardship education, while creating new opportunities for trails enthusiasts in our area. Our goal is to bring private donors, outdoor industry resources, local partners and highly motivated and experienced trail staff together to maintain and improve existing trail infrastructure, while supporting the missions and goals of our partner organizations.
Midcoast Maine’s trails are a vital asset, offering recreational opportunities for physical health, socially connecting people to their community and nature, and contributing to the local economy. However, as the popularity of these trails grows, so does the need for proper trail stewardship. Unfortunately, many land trusts and municipalities lack the resources or capacity to adequately maintain and expand their trail systems. This is where MTS steps in, offering expertise in trail management and building the capacity needed to steward these precious outdoor spaces.

Year in Review

2024 marked a significant year for Midcoast Trails Stewardship (MTS) as we celebrated our first full year of operations. Emerging from a strong community of volunteer trail builders and a for-profit trail company, MTS has built on established relationships with regional landowners and managers to offer a full range of support for region-wide trails. As we wrap up the build season, we’re taking a moment to share our accomplishments and look forward to becoming a sustainable nonprofit, providing year-round trail-based support to the Midcoast community.
